money & language

Money :: We will exchange USD in Puerto Vallarta for Mexican Pesos. It is best to use your ATM card when you need money in Mexico (traveler's checks are not recommended). You get good exchange rates and you don't need to wait for the bank to open! Before you leave the US, find out how much your bank charges for it's international ATM fees so you can plan your exchanges wisely.

Carry some USD in small denominations (the equivalent of $50 or less) for times when you are forced to exchange money at disadvantageous rates. Also, plan to carry a range of USD denominations and Mexican Pesos stashed in your money belt, since we will be in out of the way areas that don't have banks. Be sure that none of the bills are defaced in any way — even a tiny tear will not be accepted.

Language :: Although Spanish is the common language of Mexico, English is widely used in business. About 7% of the population speak an American, or indigenous, dialect. The government officially recognizes 62 American languages. English is spoken in the tourist areas we will be visiting, but most of our time will be spent in indegenous areas where locals speak Spanish or American. To make sure we get the most out of our Mexican adventure, our group will have a local bi-lingual intrepreter. Contact us
