If you know what you’re doing, you can have any experience you want. The key is in the planning. Here are some tips to get you started. (1-2 months before we go — practical preparation)
Passports :: Citizens of the US need valid passports to enter other countries and to re-enter their own country. You can apply for a passport at most post offices, passport offices or courts of law and will need to present proof of citizenship and identity. Regular service takes up to six weeks, but you can receive expedited service for an additional fee. US Passport Site>>
Time Zone :: Puerto Vallarta is on Central Standard Time and changes to Daylight Savings Time each year along with the US. When it is 9:00 a.m. in Puerto Vallarta, it is 7:00 a.m. in San Francisco (Pacific Time) and 10:00 a.m. in New York (Eastern Time).
Communication :: Greet strangers with: "Buenos Dias" = "Good Morning"; "Buenas Tardes" = "Good Afternoon"; "Buenas Noches" = "Good Evening"; it's part of the culture. When in a store or meeting someone, always start out with one of the phrases above. Shaking hands with people is expected, even if you've already met before and have seen them three times in the same day.
Climate :: Vallarta enjoys a warm, tropical climate year-round, with average daytime temps of 80º F (27º C), and cooler evening temps in the winter months. Summers are sunny, with afternoon rains — just enough to cool off the air for evening activities. More on weather in Vallarta>>
What to Wear :: Vallarta is a very casual place. T-shirts and shorts are the normal attire. Informal dresses and skirts are generally worn by women at the more up-scale restaurants at night; men wear long pants and a casual shirt. Contact us
